Latinx Grads Rep Their Culture With The Hashtag #LatinXGradCaps

LatinX students show their pride during commencement.

The hashtag #LatinXGradCaps, has graduates showing their pride on the big day. Graduates around the country are decorating their caps with messages honoring their culture, family, and community. In addition, they are highlighting the political rhetoric that we’ve seen in the last few months.

Below are some of our favorites caps.

#ImmiGrads πŸŽ“βœŠπŸΎπŸ‘πŸ½@ciclady: “Two sisters from humble backgrounds who dreamt about one day going to college. That’s right y’all we did it! I’m walking on along side my hardworking parents on stage with honors from UC Berkeley and my sister was recently accepted to top universities! We got each other’s back in this academic hustle!! It’s safe to say the Rodriguez sisters are chingonas! We did it sis! three jobs at a time but we made it happen! For our younger sister and our younger cousins we got hustle though ambition flow inside our DNA!! This is for all of you!!” #ImmiGrad #sistersister #trumpyoumadornah #latinxgradcaps #uofcalifornia #ucberkeley #HereToStay PC:@okay_uri –

βœŠπŸ½β€οΈπŸ’― #ImmiGrads @thejuanrobles: “Querer Es Poder.” This phrase, which is a saying I’ve heard my parents say since I was a child, has been a driving force in my journey in higher education, and it was the inspiration for my cap. It loosely translates to “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” or “If you can dream it, you can do it.” It’s literal translation is also “Love Is Power,” which, oddly enough, goes hand in hand with what our guest speaker shared with us today. I also designed it to resemble a mariachi pattern to pay tribute to my heritage.πŸŽ“πŸ—πŸŽ‰” . #ImmiGrad #Graduation #MastersDegree #MEd #Masters #MastersInMay #Arkansas #QuererEsPoder #Latinx #LatinxGradCaps
