Snoop Dogg was at Jazz Fest in New Orleans performing some of his hit songs when a fan spotted his sign language interpreter, Holly Maniatty. The professional sign language interpreter is shown grooving to the music while performing sign language to the lyrics of 50 cent’s “P.I.M.P” and DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win”.
This isn’t the first time that Holly has garnered attention from the media. A fan spotted her back in 2013 during a Wu-Tang Clan Concert.
Did you see how her movements were different from the moves in Snoop Dogg’s performance? That’s because Holly puts in a lot of work to get it right. According to a 2013 interview with Vice Holly said that “a lot of people have the idea that rap music cannot be interpreted, but it can be done. It’s a lot of work, but it can be done.” Holly is truly passionate about what she does and it is evident in the way she expresses herself.
Interpreters at concerts isn’t a new phenomenon either. In 1990, Congress passed the American With Disabilities Act which requires concert venues to provide interpreters for deaf attendees.
